There may be nothing wrong with the cords themselves. The problem may be the nerve running them, and the tissue it travels through. Your vagus nerve does far more than calm your gut. Its branches also run your voice box, the larynx, controlling the muscles that tension your vocal cords.

That nerve travels down your neck inside the carotid sheath, a firm sleeve of connective tissue that is fascia continuous with the deeper fascia of your neck.
So the same nerve that sets your parasympathetic tone also powers your voice, and it passes directly through the neck tissue you hold tense all day.
Now the fascia. Years of forward-head posture and a clenched, guarded neck stiffen that deep fascia, and the sheath carrying the vagus sits inside that tightening field.
Mechanism-based reasoning suggests a chronically restricted neck changes the mechanical environment around the nerve and the delicate laryngeal muscles it drives. The voice fatigues, and the throat feels tight and effortful.
Now the shared state. When you are stuck in a stressed, sympathetic setting, vagal tone runs low across all its branches at once. Low tone means the fine control of your laryngeal muscles suffers, and the same low tone slows your gut. That is why a tired, tight voice so often arrives in the same stretch as reflux or a sluggish gut.
So the throat symptom and the gut symptom are not separate. They are one nerve running low, reporting from two of its branches.

That the vagus supplies the larynx and travels in the carotid sheath is established human anatomy. That releasing neck fascia lifts vagal tone and eases the voice is emerging and mechanism-based, not proven.

Here is the move. Right now, drop your shoulders and let your jaw and tongue go slack, then massage the muscles along the side of your neck in slow downward strokes for one minute. Then sit tall and hum gently on each out-breath for five minutes, breathing in for four counts and humming out for eight.
The neck release softens the deep cervical fascia around the sheath the vagus runs in, easing the mechanical load on the nerve driving your larynx, and that is the fascia side. The long, humming exhale raises vagal tone directly, and the gentle vibration works the laryngeal muscles that same nerve controls, which is the vagus side. Two systems, one sequence.
